*What the team does

The service comprises specialist staff who are able to provide first language support to new arrival pupils (ie. in the last three years) in their school in over twenty of the community languages spoken in the City, as well as professionally qualified advisers with a teaching background.  The service provides professional development to school staff to provide good or better provision for EAL pupils, as well as offering resources and generic support in relation to equalities (race) and community cohesion.  All of the work of the service is based upon research-based, best practice models and will support raising the attainment of this group of pupils, as well as that of other vulnerable or potentially vulnerable pupils, including White British under-achievers.
The principal benefits of this service are:
  •  We provide quality assured and trained bilingual support staff to work directly with pupils in schools according to need;
  • We offer easily accessed, regular and high quality advice and training for staff and custom-made resources focussing on the needs of EAL pupils.  This in both generic in nature and bespoke to schools;
  • Face to face support for over twenty languages.
Available through level 1 subscription and fixed price packages.  Please contact the EMAS on 023 9273 3130.
