*Refugee and Asylum Seeker (RAS)

EMAS Support for Refugee and Asylum Seeking pupils.

Portsmouth Context
Portsmouth had increasing numbers of pupils from refugee and asylum seeking (RAS) backgrounds during the late 90s and early 2000 as it was and is again a designated dispersal area.

There are a number of properties which provide temporary accommodation. This means that there are likely to be new arrival pupils from a RAS background coming to our schools from time to time.
